Sharpening the Skates: Why Great Technology Needs Great Support

September 22, 2026

Skates don’t come sharpened out of the box.

I learned this two months into my daughter playing hockey, after overhearing other parents talk about skate sharpening and finally asking, “when do you need to do that?”

Turns out, right out of the box, but there were no instructions telling me so. I bought the tool for her to use, and I had no idea how to use it myself.

How many tools do we own or have been given that we don’t actually understand? Where the out-of-the-box experience flops because it doesn’t work the way we imagined, and there’s no one there to teach us how it actually functions?

Welcome to the relationship between sales, clients, and campaign managers, where great technology needs great support to actually deliver on its promise.

What Happens After the Sale Matters

In over 10 years working in campaign management, I’ve seen the frustration clients feel once the sale is done. The excitement over a powerful new tool gets handed to their team with little to no training. By the time a campaign manager steps in, it’s often in a reactive role: teaching the basics and correcting mistakes that could’ve been avoided.

Bridging the Gap

One of the things that excited me most about coming to Ribeye was discovering we have a dedicated activation team aka Partner Solutions. They bridge that gap. They sharpen the skates. By the time users reach client services, they already understand the basic navigation, the setup, and the capabilities. The frustration in that handoff is minimized because these two teams work in tandem, not in sequence. CS becomes an extension of the client’s team. We advocate for the client’s needs and the updates they’d like to see, and we build a system that works specifically for them.

Ribeye realizes our platform is only as good as our users’ experience. We don’t push for the close and then drop the ball. We open the box, sharpen the skates, then help set up the plays.

Technology Should Fit the Way You Work

That philosophy goes beyond onboarding and support. It’s part of how Ribeye is built. Local media teams are already navigating complex sales processes, campaign workflows, client expectations, and an ever-growing number of tools. Adding another platform shouldn’t mean adding another layer of complexity. The technology should make the work easier, connect the teams doing it, and adapt to the realities of the business.

Built Around Local Media Workflows

That’s why Ribeye brings sales, campaign management, and client services into a more connected workflow. From the first conversation through activation and ongoing account management, teams have greater visibility into what’s happening, what comes next, and where attention is needed. Ribeye is built specifically around the realities of local media, rather than asking teams to reshape the way they work around another piece of technology. The platform helps bring the people, processes, and information behind the work together so teams can spend less time navigating disconnected systems and more time focused on their clients.

More Than Software, an Ongoing Partnership

And the partnership doesn’t end once the platform is live. Our team works alongside yours to understand your workflows, support your users, and continue evolving the experience as your needs change. Because the goal isn’t simply to give local media teams another tool. It’s to give them a platform they know how to use, want to use, and can actually put to work.

The right technology is only part of the solution. See how Ribeye combines purpose-built technology with the onboarding, support, and partnership local media teams need to put it to work.
